I met Selena when she was just a teenager. I also had the opportunity
of seeing her performing twice and I could tell at that time that she was
to be the true Quen of Texano Music. But I couldn't imagine that Selena
would transpose the political borders and art frontiers that surrounded
her. The Spanish media is freccuently talking about the crossover.
Meaning that Spanish speaking singers and Movie/TV actors be successful
in the English world. Selena had to do a double crossover.
She first had to go down South to Mexico and prove that Texano wasn't a
lower class music style. She took Texano to a higher level in Latin America
thus opening the doors for other Texano bands to be internationally reknown
in Spanish. She, then, started her last musical project: the crossover
to the English musical world. Unfortunately, before her dream came
true, Selena was forced to cross the final frontier of life.
Selena's Secret and other books and her music help us to remember what
she was but this world will never be the same without Selena. fernando
